Charlie's Birthday is Monday, April 12!
Hi everyone, I never really know social protocol for who ought to throw a birthday party, but most of you would never know if I didn't mention it, so now you know! I have a few things in mind, most importantly, I plan to get myself dedicated ISDN to the house this week. I have the money, and just need to decide which ISP to give it to. This is the first step in getting the BN Archive back online in it's original form, or perhaps better than original. Next comes getting a server, which may not be as costly as I originally planned. I was looking to buy a used sun, but MacOS X Server, an even "friendlier" commercial unix than Solaris, does indeed work on my PowerMac 8600 (it's only supposed to work on G3's) so I do not have to buy new hardware. I'd still like to buy a sun, as I think it would be best, but this should get me by for the time being. If all goes well, I'll be having an "online party" trying this combination serving up a few special files on Monday, April 12th. Be sure to stop by then! If I can't get things running at home by then, I'll have those special files up at an alternate location, most likely my office computer which is also running Mac OS X Server at the moment. The server is now UP! Here is a "party favor preview" page. Oh, if you want to send presents, BN/BNSF/SF slides would always be nice (here's your excuse if you've been holding out). Rolls of Kodachrome 25 (or 64) are always useful too! Even just a card or an e-mail (cbiel@sbcglobal.net) is appreciated!
