Hi everyone,
First off, hope you enjoyed my April 1 photo of "BNSG 9980" which many have referred to as BNSF's "CB&Q Heritage" unit. That's not exactly true, since it's not BNSF but BNSG. Feel free to e-mail me if you'd like to know the story behind this photo. As for today, it was the kind of day I live for as a railfan! Lots of trains running and new BNSF locomotives everywhere! It is not often that I get to feature a new BNSF locomotive model. For those of you who have not heard of the "ES44C4" it is a new GE design featuring A-1-A trucks instead of the typical C trucks of a ES44AC. I managed to get both standard and overhead rosters of BNSF 6611, which is among the first of this class. Fortunately others have already verified the builder data of this particular locomotive, built just last month during March 2009. Other subjects are not new models, but are still quite new. I did not really have good opportunites to get builder data from other GE's also built in 2009, ES44AC #6299 and ES44DC #7200 were both moving like they meant business, for that matter so was 6611. Last but not least, the cleanest locomotive of the bunch had me fooled as it happens to be the oldest of all four units I'm featuring today. SD70ACE #9252 was built way back in April 2008, but sure doesn't look more than a month old. The sun is just gleaming off that anticlimber's reflector! Enjoy! |
