Message of the day - April 30, 2010:

Hi everyone,

This year got off to a great start, but since January 2nd I have yet to "make quota" of 5 decent BNSF roster shots in one day. I can think of one day I could have done it, but I zigged when I should have zagged a couple times. Oh well, I still have quite the backlog of BNSF photos from the past 13 or so years that have yet to make it online. I'm not sure if I've actually managed 20 decent rosters which is how many pix I've posted since January 2nd, so perhaps I am getting ever so slightly caught up with the backlog!

The current backlog project remains BNSF passenger cars of the business, support and service variety. I just so happen to have at least one sample of each today. As if that wasn't enough, today is the first time I am featuring cars with the current BNSF wedge logo. In the case of Support Car #11 aka "Fred Harvey", I happen to have before and after photos showing the early BNSF circle and cross logo of in 2001 and the current BNSF wedge logo in 2009. These two photos happen to be of opposite sides of the car, which might be good or bad depending on what information you are after.

Also for what it's worth, the 2005 pix are from my old Kodak DCS760 and the 2009 pix are from a Nikon D50, in both cases I think the lens used was the same. Nothing fancy, a Nikon 35-80mm that I found I liked better than the far more expensive Nikon 35-70mm f2.8. In the end, they are both good enough (cameras and lenses), and for that matter I think I get better results from these digitals than with the old Kodachrome 25 and 64 film scans. One such scan happens to be that before shot of Support Car #11 mentioned above.

Enjoy!
