Hi everyone,
I had to take a little break for academic purposes, but I am back today with five more blue and yellow BNSF units from Mark R. Lynn. All five units are good old stylish GP30's. While I refer to these units as GP30's, some people refer to them as GP30u's or some other designation to show that they have been rebuilt. As far as I know, they are still mechanically the same as a GP30, just remanufactured. (I'm also pretty sure that I'm wrong about this). The only external modification I have noticed on these is that the windshields have all been replaced so that they are flat across, as opposed to the pointed windshields of as-built GP30's such as BN GP30 #2244. I cannot see any real reason to change the windshields other than to reduce the number of unique repair parts necessary. Maybe the windshield wipers work better when connected together. In any case, this is something to take note of if you are modeling these units and care about such details. Enjoy! |
