Message of the day - August 29, 2004:

Hi everyone,

The weather begged for some photography today, so I got trackside, and the BNSF was gracious enough to run several trains. I got photos of more than these five C44-9W's in Heritage II paint, but since I managed to get five of the same subject, that makes my life a little easier. Posted the pictures in chronological order instead of the usual numerical order, and while I got other photos today that are much better than that of C44-9W #5019, I selected this one anyway. Due to the bridge, really had no chance of a proper roster of it, unless I gave up chase on C44-9W #5139. I could not do that since this was on the head of an elusive intermodal, and while I really did not do well shooting the intermodal cars on the train, at least I did catch the power, and on the way back to see if 5019 was stopped, I ran across two more trains heading the opposite direction, both intermodals too - what a day! The second had C44-9W #4548 on the point, and after being distracted by a coal train, I managed to catch up to 5019 to at least get a telephoto of the builder decal so I would have that data on this incredibly clean 5019. Sure enough, it was built less than 30 days ago!

I should note that I list three of these five C44-9W's with a ":2" after the road number. This indicates that the unit is the second to wear this road number for the BNSF. In all three cases, the first BNSF unit to wear these numbers were C30-7's.

Enjoy!
