Hi everyone,
Now I have some more interesting boxcars, at least as far as the paint and lettering are concerned. There are not many times where a BNSF freight car is obviously a repaint (to me, anyway). Once I saw a hopper with some paint chipped off and green paint underneath, but in most cases freshly painted cars look as if they were new to me, with dented up gondolas being one exception. While a lot of locomotives have been given new numbers and reporting marks without getting new paint, I have not seen this on many freight cars. One of two boxcars I have seen that was renumbered but not repainted is BNSF 780525, which still has a Santa Fe logo. I have seen several ex-BN double stack cars, mostly three unit Gunderson all-purpose renumbered in a similar fashion. Given these examples, I would guess there must be some kind of renumbering plan for freight cars, but I have never heard of or seen it. Considering how many freight cars the BNSF has, it would be quite a large document. The other four cars are also a little bit unusual. Note the BNSF circle logo, and you will see what I mean. Enjoy! |
