Message of the day - February 4, 1998:

Hi everyone,

Well, I hope no one has been suffering withdrawal over me not posting and BNSF for nearly three weeks. I've been out hoping to get a shot of one of the new Heritage II orange and green BNSF SD70MAC's on the lead of a train, and it hasn't happened. I know I have missed three opportunities, but fortunaltely, Moss Hulsey caught all three (otherwise, I wouldn't know what I have been missing). I have one such shot (actually two of the same unit) scanned, so they will be part of the next day's posting, whenever that is.

Today's theme is repaints and reletterings. All five of today's shots are of units that are on at least their second coat of paint. Three of the shots are C40-8W's, and these are the first shots of BNSF lettered C40-8W's I have posted. Now that BNSF has apparently adopted a standard warbonnet lettering style these units will likely be quite unique with their larger lettering, Santa Fe nose bands, and Santa Fe style numbers on the cab.

Well, hope you like what you see so far. As always, I welcome your comments, criticism, and most of all, contributions! Feel free to e-mail me - cbiel@sbcglobal.net.

Enjoy!
