Message of the day - January 30, 2000:

Hi everyone,

The final five photos from new contributor Wes Carr are all SD70MAC's, and again, all are well under a year old at the time of the photo.

One of my favorite sights is three SD70MAC's elephant style on the point of a coal train, preferably all in the same paint scheme. I think this photo of BN SD70MAC #9488 by Cody Erben really did something for me at the time. Still does, for that matter. Wes caught this "favorite sight" of mine when SD70MAC #9897 passed through Fruitland, TX in January 1999. Funny how I had caught what appears to be the same train set a week before in Saginaw.

Since distributed power is now the norm for BNSF coal trains through the Fort Worth area, this means two units on the lead and one on the rear. This makes it much easier to get a matched pair elephant style on the point, but it just doesn't look as impressive as three units up front, at least not to me. Maybe I need to take a trip to Crawford Hill this summer...and find milepost 417.5.

Enjoy!
