Hi everyone,
Got trackside on the BNSF for the first time this year and despite getting off to a late start due to uncertiainty over just how cloudy it was I decided to try my luck and just managed to "make quota" by getting 5 decent roster shots of BNSF motive power. Today's assortment is pretty typical for Fort Worth and Saginaw, I would have expected to see one coal train with SD70MAC's or the also common ES44AC's, but instead bagged two C44-9W's, ending the day with this marginally lit grab shot of C44-9W #4597. That's a pretty long shadow and I was fortunate to not have it covering the tracks, trucks or worse. The low angle of the sun does show an interesting form of weathering that I don't often see on models, but do see a bit of on real trains. The classic "conductor emptying the contents of a beverage container out the window" look appears to have been layed on pretty thick on the 4597, with such activity appearing to have happened while at three distinctly different speeds. I suppose I should commend the conductors for not littering at least. I can't see how that would happen if tossing the container out the window. Also worth noting is on the photo of NRE 3GS21B #1233 the "builder plate" decal is not in it's usual location ahead of the cab, so I interpolated for builder info. Odds are my guess is accurate so I didn't bother with the (?) notation I sometimes add to photos in cases where I'm making such a guess. Had there been a plate visible I had ample opportunity to slap on some longer glass for a photo of it since the unit was parked. Enjoy! |
