Hi everyone,
I managed to get out both days this weekend, and between the two days managed to not only get enough photos to put out something fresh, but I even have enough of one paint scheme so that I can have a theme for the day. All five photos are ex-Santa Fe blue and yellow units, and all are EMD's. It would be a challenge to find five GE's still in this paint these days. I cheated a little by slipping in two photos of SD45-2 #6480. I suppose you could call the photos of this unit "two wrongs do not make a right". When I took the first photo, I was unhappy that the sun was too high, so noted that I would like to try and catch it again later when the sun was at a better angle. Well, BNSF decided this unit would be helpful assisting a coal train up the grade from Alvord to Decatur, so it was not parked where I hoped to find it when the sun was in the right place. Later I managed to get it again, but now the sun is a little too nosy. Both are better than the shot of SD45-2 #6476 where I am surprised the photo looks as good as it does as a cloud blocked the sun, but had the sun been out the photo would have been worse instead of better. If I were not so hard up for SD45-2 photos, I might not use any of these, but they are not Heritage II C44-9W's, so they pass for now. Also, for those of you keeping tabs on units with mismatched air conditioners, apparently someone besides me noticed between September 2004 and yesterday that GP38 #2231 had an orange air conditioner and yellow would be a better match. I suppose it was easier to correct the air conditioner than to paint the rest of the unit to match. Enjoy! |
