Hi everyone,
This month's theme: "March of the Wedgies." I've managed to collect quite a few photos of freight cars with the new BNSF logo that I affectionately refer to as the "wedgie". I think Grumpy beat me to the term, but at least I thought of it independently. I will have to admit his prior use of the term as it pertains to railroad photograhpy had some influence. Anyway, most of the cars I have with the new logo are covered hoppers made by Trinity Industries in the 480XXX-482XXX series. Note that not all of these numbers feature the new logo. Perhaps this November I'll go retro and prove it by posting photos of old logo cars, preferably with the new yellow reflective striping. Which reminds me, note that the first railcar I saw and photographed with this logo, BNSF 481424, features the new logo but NOT yellow reflective striping. In the grand scheme of things that is likely to be a rare combination. I suppose what really got me wanting to go ahead with freight cars this month is not a freight car, but an intermodal container chassis. Since it is kind of hard to see the BNSF wedgie logo on this standard size photo of LSFZ 531738, allow me to supply a larger version. Can you see the wedgie logo now? If you would like to see more large photos like this, let me know. I am seriously considering doing away with the 800X600 in favor of 1920X1140. If for no other reason, to show why I have insisted on high res (3000x2000 or higher) contributions all these years. Enjoy! |
