Hi everyone,
After a lackluster February, March is off to a good start. I not only made quota, but got to select 5 from 8 candidates. So I decided to spare you the two C44-9W's, and picked the better of the two shots of SD70MAC #9423 which I'm glad I decided to chase down for a better shot. The weekend before, I got out on February 27th but clouds made for a poor shot of the lead unit of a sothbound loaded coal train. I had a friend along who is more of a photographer than a railfan, and even he knew that this was a little different than what he was used to seeing. We had fun trying to chase it down again, but alas it got away. So I was quite pleased to get a second chance as SD70MAC #9676 lead what I assume was the same coal train, now empty, back northbound some 6 days later. I was happy enough with that catch even if I didn't make quota, but I did, and among the other photos is the first SD40-2 I've managed to get a decent pic of after being renumbered to the 1XXX series, SD40-2 #1661. I have yet to update the SD40-2 roster page to reflect all these new numbers. It's going to take a bit of effort, but at least I have Robert C. Del Grosso's latest BNSF 2010 Locomotive Review book.
