Message of the day - March 6, 1999:

Hi everyone,

Here are five more covered hoppers (67 down, 2 to go). All of today's hoppers are freshly built by Trinity Industries which has several railcar facilities in the Ft. Worth / Saginaw area. These hoppers look especially sharp with their large logos and silver walkways on the roof and ends.

I know the manufacturer of these cars because it was quite obvious, but in general I'm no expert in the field of freight car spotting, so if you are certain of the manufacturer and/or model of any of these hoppers (or other freight cars I have posted), I'd like any info I can get on these. I don't have any freight car books to help with identification, other than an April 1996 edition of "The Official Railway Equipment Register." I really should buy the two BN freight car books by David Casdorph one of these days.

I won't be posting freight cars again for a while, but would like to use the existing files to start on some freight car index pages, and manufacturer and car model would be nice to know, just as it is with locomotives.

Enjoy!
