Hi everyone,
This month presented a special once a year opportunity. The 9th Annual "24 Hours @ Saginaw" event by the NRHS North Texas Chapter occurred from 7:00pm May 23rd to 7:00pm May 24th. For the past three or four years, I have tried and for the most part failed to take some decent night photos during this event. Several years ago Brian Tindle inspired me to try night photos again after I had pretty much given up on the idea due to my strong preference for the more traditional daylight roster shot look. For those who were there and saw the time and effort I took to set up the lighting, this is not something I do often or do in a rush. I also tend not to do it when I'm off on my own for a single train. So I don't practice this very often, but I am slowly learning. This year from sunset to sunrise I did manage to make quota. Actually before 3:00am which is a good thing, as it started to sprinkle at about that time so I started putting up all the lighting before the sprinkle became a steady rain or worse. I'd rather not find out if a 23 foot light stand makes a good lightning rod. Especially with so many fellow railfan friends nearby! Enjoy! |
