Hi everyone,
This batch of five the SD40-2's just about wraps up the first episode of BNSF SD40-2's in Heritage I paint Ad Nauseum. I do hope to do this again soon, but BNSF SD40-2's in any paint are becoming increasingly elusive. Since I have been particularly excited about overhead photos that show all-important walkway colors, I do once again get to show both varieties. In this case the relatively clean green walkways of SD40-2 #8006 do look better than the dirty orange (almost gray looking) walkways of SD40-2 #7890. People familiar with the more unique units on the BN roster may recognize BNSF 7890 as something special. In the early 1990's, this was one of the two natural gas powered units, and still sports flared SD45 style radiators offering increased cooling capacity for the experiment. I did run across the bridge to shoot the more interesting rear overhead angle, but the shot is not one I'm overly proud of when it comes to overall quality. I may scan and post it later anyway. I normally would not even have shot this locomotive due to many roster formula rules being broken, but for a unique unit like this, breaking a few rules is OK. Enjoy! |
