Hi everyone,
Here are five more boxcars. One is of the normal variety that I have been posting for the past few days, the other four are refrigerated boxcars also known as "reefers." All four look pretty much the same, except of course for the road number. I can't help but point out (one more time) that there is one thing that is the same for almost all boxcars. None have roofwalks. I challenge you to find a BNSF, or for that matter any boxcar that has roofwalks in the 80's or 90's. There are very few specialized exceptions. One of my modelling peeves is seeing modellers run boxcars with roofwalks in what otherwise looks like a very nice modern (80's or 90's) train. It especially kills me to see members of clubs at train shows running BNSF locomotives followed by boxcars with roofwalks. I know from talking to many of these people that they really intend to model a modern train, and they are somewhat appreciative of learning this information on the prototypes they are modelling. Of course, then they have to deal with the frustration of what to do with all those boxcars that they thought looked so neat but would really be more at home behind a Great Northern locomotive. I try my best to catch these people early so they don't blow too much money on nice looking boxcars from the 40's, 50's and 60's. Enjoy! |
