Hi everyone,
Happy Halloween! It is a day known for celebrating the pumpkin, so I feel that I must now break from this year's theme of the new Wedge logo and dig out some good old fashioned BNSF "pumpkins". I have always considered the nickname "pumpkin" to apply only to the Heritage I paint, but I have heard it used to refer to Heritage II as well. I suppose this is valid, since the reference is to the colors, and both feature orange with dark green much like a pumpkin. This time last year, I was on the other side of the world, so I did not get to hand out any treats in person, only via the website with an update made from a long, long ways from home. I had saved one outstanding photo by Curt D. Jans of SW10B #3635 for that day, referring to it as the "headless pumpkin". Carrying on with that theme, while none of these locomotives are quite as "headless" as that SW10B, the GP60B and GP9B models are also cabless so I've got a few more "headless pumpkins" for you to enjoy. My apologies that these photos are all front coupled. That's generally unacceptable but for these cabless units, finding them front uncoupled is extremely rare. Making Curt's above photo that much more a masterpiece! Last but not least, I also have a special request to fulfil. Here you go, Jonzie! It's not 5838, but hope this photo of AC4400CW #5839 brightens your day. Enjoy! |
