Message of the day - October 12, 1999:

Hi everyone,

I can hardly believe I let a whole month slip by with no BNSF photos. I'm surprised I haven't received more e-mail from people suffering from withdrawal. I guess my little notice about the scanning service problems and the announcement of this delay helped alleviate the suffering.

I got a couple CD's back on October 5th, but decided to skip town and go to Montana to get a few action photos, and meet some of the world's best action shooters in one of the world's best places for action photography, Maria's Pass. I only got in about 6 hours of shooting for my 60 hours of driving, but I now have a newfound respect for action photos and action photographers.

Ever since the little birthday party thing back in April, I realized I really don't have any good action shots of my own, and not very many from others. Most of my good action is from Tom Klinger and Mark Lynn. The ingredients for good action just don't exist here in north Texas (though Dan Pope may know some things I don't), so I'll be back to my old roster shot self for a while. I did learn a great deal from the experience though, and if I had it to do over again, I would, even if I knew my alternator was going to go out while driving down a remote gravel road 12 miles north of Gillette, Wyoming on the way home.

Enough about the trip. Today's photos are the first from a CD of 36 Heritage II C44-9W's. Once again, October will be "pumpkin" month.

Enjoy!
