Message of the day - October 26, 1999:

Hi everyone,

Here are four more Heritage II C44-9W's, with yet another one of those roster/train pairs. This time I did a better job on the roster.

Today's shot of the day is of C44-9W #4872 at Willmar, MN on December 26, 1998. This is most certainly the coldest photo I have taken. It was exactly zero degrees, and I had shot a half a dozen BN units, a lease unit and one Santa Fe B40-8W before moving on to this, the shot of the day, perhaps shot of the trip. I spent a roll and a half on it so I'd have lots of extras to trade, and my fingers were starting to feel numb by the time I was done.

Whoever was about to board the train was obviously not too bothered by the cold. Note the open cab window. I eased the wide open door closed with a 8 foot stick I found back in the trees by Highway 12 both to make a better shot and keep that cab interior from getting too cold!

Enjoy!
