Hi everyone,
If your senses have been numbed by the recent dash nine ad-nauseum theme, relief is here. Today we have a slight change of plans, as I usher in a new era in my own photography. Note that all photos are from today, September 29, 2003. All were taken with my recently purchased Kodak DCS 760 digital camera. It was horribly expensive, but two weddings and a two week railfanning trip in one months time was going to rack up some hefty film expenses anyway, so I bit the bullet and found a deal on the digital camera I have been lusting after for nearly a year since I first started seriously considering the purchase of one. I almost wound up with Canon gear featuring much better battery life, but chose a Nikon that eats batteries but lets me shoot 24 frames in a continuous burst, something I really wanted for shooting double stack cars. I also got into some Nikon glass and a Nikon N90 over the summer which caused me to favor a Nikon based digital, but by that time I had already figured I would chose a Nikon based digital SLR. As for the photos, it figures that one of the subjects would be yet another Heritage II C44-9W, and in the 5300's no less! I do also have a Heritage I SD40-2 and a BNSF-ized ex-BN GP39M to round out today's selection. I had the pleasure of chatting with the crew of the 5371, and found that the reason traffic was light was a derailment in Wichita Falls. At least I was able to catch these three subjects. Boy am I tempted to put up some of the 6 megapixel images from this camera. They do look good, as I would hope considering the expense of this Nikon F5 based camera. Enjoy! |
