Hi everyone,
I did get trackside a few times this month, but oddly, my best effort was from the wrong side of the tracks at the wrong time of day. I got decent results, but it just so happens that the best photo that evening happened to be of a subject I've already got a good photo of during optimal roster shooting circumstances. Looking back, it has been a great month in many ways, but not when it comes to traditional roster shooting. Not to worry, I've been saving up a few pix for when this would inevitably happen. It is finally time to clear out the backlog of decent GE photos from the past year. I really do need to put more effort into the various modern GE locomotives. I have done well on the C44-9W over the years, with photos of well over 500 units featured, but I'm nowhere close to that when it comes to the ES44AC and ES44DC models. As if that was not bad enough, I really have my work cut out for me when it comes to the the even more modern ES44C4. 15 of 974? I may not get out as much as I used to, but as numerous as these are, and with many of them supposedly being manufactured right here in Texas, they do still play extraordinarily hard to get. You'd think as soon as they are built, they only operate on trains to and from California. Not nice. So if you are bored with all the modern GE's, how about sending 1500 or so to Texas? Shucks, I'll even settle for more C44-9W's. I still don't have pix of over 1000 of them! While I'm tempted to ask for matched sets while I'm at it, at the end of the day it's really only the lead unit that counts. Enjoy! |
