For the N scale modelers out there who do not already know of Kato's announcement for BNSF AC4400CW's this summer, you may want to check out the Kato website at http://www.katousa.com. It seems that I heard about the announcement before, but last month I was made particularly aware of Kato's plans when they contacted me regarding the use of a photo for their catalog. So in anticipation of these models, I would like to make sure I have all my good photos of the subject online before the models hit the shelves. Demanding modelers note that the cabs will be correct for BNSF, right down the the unique to BNSF 4 windows on the side of the cab. This has me very excited, as now I hope to use Kato AC4400CW cabs on the Kato C44-9W shell to make more accurate late Heritage II BNSF C44-9W models. Anyway, Kato's model will represent the 5603-5652 class units, and in addition to now having both sides of AC4400CW #5600, I now have a classic roster view of AC4400CW #5633, a not so classic telephoto roster view of AC4400CW #5638 and a rear view of AC4400CW #5617 which will all soon be quite possible candidates for N scale modelers. I have yet to find out much about the higher numbered BNSF AC4400CW's, so I cannot offer builder date or number for AC4400CW #5662 but I suspect it was less than two months old on February 29, 2004 when this photo was taken. Obviously I have a bit of research to do on the AC4400CW roster page. Enjoy! |
